Abstract

Based on a large body of data published both in Russia and abroad, modern advances in theory and practice of DOWSING (D) are addressed. Treated in detail are scientific views of the nature of the DOWSING FIELD (DF) and the possible biophysical mechanisms of the effect of this field on the DOWSER (DR). The focus is on the practical advances of DR: including applied geology and geophysics -- in prospecting for water; ecology – in revealing biologically comfort and discomfort zones; medicine: in the establishment of the relationship between oncological and other diseases and geopathogenic zones; sociology – in historical and archeological studies, etc.

The section on applied geology and geophysics is concerned with practical results of the studies conducted by DR jointly with specialists in the science of the Earth, and as the most illustrative example, a fundamental project on prospectign for water in the arid regions of nine countries of the world (Congo, Niger, Yemen, Kenia, Namibia, Dominican Republic, etc.) performed by a large group of scientists, involving specially selected DR. This project has been designed and executed by scientists of the Munich University headed by the professor of physics H.-D. Betz and professor of electrotechnics H.-L.Konig and supported by the Ministry of Research and Technology of Germany. The effectiveness of the prediction by DR of aquiferous wells as supported by drilling averages 80% (!) , and in Sri Lanka it was as high as 96% (of the total number of 691 drilled wells ).

An exceptionally important and well-documented body of data has been collected by the British researcher engineer Alf Riggs ( Essex , England) over 35 years of work on the problem of geopathogenic zones, of the joint effect of electromagnetic fields and Earth irradiation, and the Spanish researchers Miguel Bueno, Raul de la Rosa. The Baltic Assocaition of Dowsing is working actively ( Prof. T. Kalnins, R.Krisberg , L Ulmanis,Institute of Physics, Latvian Academy of Sciences; J.Gikys,Institute of Mathematics and Informatics). Dr. Jose B. Marcondes (Director of the Center for Protection against the Deleterious Effect of Electromagnetic Fields and Geopathogenic Zones and Earth Irradiation, Sao Paulo, Brazil), performed some huge amount of work to reveal comfort and discomfort (hazardous) sites in several thousand houses in Sao Paolo and Pato Branco.

The celebrated Argentian researcher engineer Guido Bassler (Vice-President of the Argentinian Association of Dowsers ) has contributed greatly to the historical and archeological studies of cult structures in the countries of Latin America (Argentina, Peru, Chili, Mexica, etc.).

In summary, DR have been greatly contributing to geology, geophysics, ecology, archeology and health care. D studies have been increasingly supported by state institutions, research organizations and public at large. The international recognition of D is based on the results of its practical activity in science, technology and health care.
